I am afraid you were told wrongly. The famous William Wallace had no known children or collateral descendants. This issue was the subject of a thread on the Wallace surname forum at rootsweb.com not too long ago.

Well, that being the case, perhaps he's a distant uncle (third cousin twice removed) or something! ;) There's no denying that my maternal grandfather's surname is Wallace, nor that my family has links with Scotland.
