Wow, I was never good at math nor remembering what numbers to use where. I just go to Google, type in the centimeters and get the answer in feet, or the other way around. Works for temperatures, etc.

This equals 9.18 inches, and this plus the 5 ft gives you 5ft 8.16 inches, so 5 ft 8 in is close enough. I used to love doing dimensional equations.
You don't have to be Scottish to be comfortable!

I'm going on a 2 week hike along part of the pilgrim path from Le Puy in France to Santiago de Compostella in Spain late this summer and I plan to wear either this kilt or another new one on that hike. I've ordered my first kilt, but it won't be the last. Iano
So you're going to my ancestral homeland of Galicia! I had tried to go to Campostella on my visits to Spain, but pre EU-funded development, it was so remote that train connections were not possible during my time there. I hope that you have a wonderful experience. Will you be hiking as an official pilgrim?
Why did you choose MacInnes? Is that the family of your Scottish ancestors?

I don't think I will hike as an official pilgrim on the stages in France, but from St Jean Pied de Port to Santiago de Compostella I believe I will. I also hope that I'll be able to hike that stretch in one stage. That will probably take 4 weeks.
About the Tartan - yes I chose that becauce of ancestry.

Welcome from Denmark, too. It is amazing how many Norwegians – compared to the population – have registered on Xmarksthescot. From Denmark we are just two, I think.

4 weeks??? You might want to contact our member, Andrew Breecher (the kilted hiker), about what it's like to do a lengthy hike like that. He has hiked nearly 10.000 km while kilted, I believe.

Do you think that is too far or too short in that timespan?
It's something like 800 km. Most people does 30 km or more a day on that path - mostly it's quite easy going. Of course apart from the crossin of the Pyrenees.
Last september we averaged a little over 20 km a day on a 10 day hike in the very hilly landscape of the "Massif centrale" in France.
But I'll be sure to take your advice and contact Andrew.
