I've heard that about the audition shows - that what you see on TV has little to do with what really happened.
So, tell us - did you actually get to sing in front of the Triumvirate of Pop? If so, what did they say about your kilt?
And what really happened, after all?
Regards and welcome,
Rex.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

The way they put the show on air was totally different than what happened though. Not the part of me hacking up the Carrie Underwood song, but the rest was different. Oh well, just doing my part to spread the good word of kilts and highland games. Hope it works.
Good on ya! You've got more guts than I.

Wow, thanks for the response! I throw at games all over the US. I expected to get a few funny looks, but it seemed I had an AI camera crew interviewing me every 30 minutes. I was thinking I would get a little more airtime, but can't complain that I actually got a little. Heck, there was 12,000 other people trying out, so I feel lucky.
Yeah, it was totally different than what was on the tv. The video was from the 3rd round. I sang my original two songs, which they seemed to like them. Then they had me sing the Carrie Underwood song, which they gave me the lyrics to it an hour before. I told them I was probably going to hack it up, but they had me do it anyways. Guess that gave them the "red light" to put it on the bad ones. I sang infront of Nigel, who judges for the show "So you think you can dance". I thought he was a pretty nice guy though. A lot of people booed him when he came in, guess cause he tells people how it is. I can't get mad at him for that. These days, that's getting harder and harder to find.
All in all though it was cool to do it and say that I actually did it. I am a part of Pop Culture history now... well, more like a smudge on the wall of Pop Culture history.

Looked like the US Bicentennial tartan to me, but it was such a brief look, and I may have been imagining things, since J.T. had just sent me a couple pictures of that tartan.
Hope they were nice to ya! Good on ya for wearing a kilt. Did they comment on it?
