Welcome to the forum, from Amelia County Virginia. As to how to get your wife to be more accepting of kilts. it's very easy. You get her to say, "You should get a kilt". That was 8 kilts ago, and although I think she may now regret saying that, she is still supportive.

My Wife encouraged me to get my first kilt but then she knew I was a character before we were married. I brought her to a Rendezvous and we were married in buckskins in a Tepee by a Shoshone Medicine Man.

I am SO proud of myself. Just got back from my twice-a-day 2-mile power walk through the neighborhood. IN MY KILT!! First time really out in public! Of course...it was dark out....baby steps....
