New Guy on the block
Hey, gentlemen,
I guess I'm the new guy here...I'm a 52 year old detention officer with the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office here in Arizona and a former Force Recon Marine. I recently got my first (not my last) kilt in my clan tartan (MacQuarrie). I am fiercely proud of my lineage, which can be traced back to the earliest recorded clan chieftan in the 1200's. I am training to compete in as many Highland Games as I can get time off for this year. Now. A question...how do you get your wife to be more accepting of your newly chosen attire?

Yeah I'm first!!! Damn to slow! Anyway from SW MI, great to have you aboard. int:
Good luck training for the games. As for your wife, if your excitement isn't enough I found the promise of acting out a highlander fantasy works best !

First of all, a hardy welcome from Southeastern New Mexico!

As to your question. This one comes up from time to time. The best method that most agree on is to just try to rationalize. My wife's still not exactly "crazy" about it, but she is a bit more tolerant (all I ask for. )

from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. As for the wife being more accepting the best advise I could offer is to give her time.

Welcome from Prescott Valley.
You could start by getting her to come to more Scottish events.
The big Scottish Gathering and games is in Phoenix the 23rd and 24th of February.
The Scots of Prescott are having their gathering/games at Watson Lake in the Prescott area on May 17th, with a celidh on Friday evening (no details yet).
The Verde Valley Scottish games are on March 29th at the Camp Verde Community Center.
And of course there's the Highland Festival in Flagstaff. That's July 19th and 20th.
