And don't go with the chain except for dressy affairs. It'll wear your kilt on the sides and the belt really looks better anyway in a casual outfit like the one you are wearing. At least, that's what I think.
well i'm a great fan of single malt uisge beatha ;)
i work often at whisky shows and whisky tastings, that's where i'm going to use my kilt, for the most. And i would call that "dressy affairs"

one question. is there a guiding principle how much distance there should be between the kilt belt and the sporran? i read something about 3 fingers, but on many pictures i see a much bigger distance.
EDIT:
ok one more question. is there a webshop that have the chain i was talk about that isn't too expensive?

I like what I see. Eventually things will come naturally to you, and you won't have to get our thoughts on how to dress.

You look good!
As far as the rules for sporran hang, it depends on the individual person.
The guiding rule is that it should be a hands-breadth beneath your belt.
For some people that leaves far too much space. For others far too little.
The best way I find to do it is this.
The top of your kilt should be a wee bit above your navel.
The belt should be centred over your navel.
The sporran should nicely protect your goolies without hanging down between your knees.
Hope that helped a bit.
