    Very nice!

I would love to see a shot of the pleats. I have been thinking about buying the same kilt and am curious how Scottishkilts.net pleated yours.

    Bill,

Here is the back side of the kilt. At this time I had not ironed it, and they didn't baste the pleats before shipping, so they look sloppy.

    It looks better now.

I'm thinking of my next kilt. Perhaps a Holyrood?

    Tom,

Thank you very much for posting the pleat picture.

The pleats of the wool 5-yard (Irish American) kilt I bought from Scottishkilts.net weren't basted during shipping either. The wrinkles my kilt acquired during shipping fell out after hanging in the closet for a couple of days. Low maintenance is a major advantage of a kilt made of heavyweight wool.

Holyrood is a nice tartan, but Highland Granite is high on my list.

Tom You beat me to it, I was going to let everyone know about the deals that Scottishkilts.net has on their 8yd machine made kilt. I ordered a Dress Gordon last night and requested and got a confirmation that it would be pleated to the stripe. This is the 5th kilt I have ordered from them. The last being a 8yd machine made in the Grey old Langsyne. It is a beautiful kilt, a bit heavy for Florida except in out traditionally cold winters. But I will brave it out. For $240.70 it is a great value. I want the skye too, but have to resist....oh so difficult!

    Tim,

The Grey Old Lang Syne was my second kilt and I still really like it.
You are right about the prices and the quality is good. I just ordered a Holyrood tartan from them.

One problem I've noticed on my Isle of Skye is the left apron pleat is curling. As has been pointed out by others, it seems to be because they pleat straight down instead of tapering the apron. I'm going to try fixing it according to some of the directions on other threads. I'll let folks know if it works out.

Congrats on the new kilt, Tom,
you wear it very well. The tartan is wonderful. As I got a 5yarder from Scottishkilts/Tartanweb (I think, itīs the same) I can only agree. They offer amazing quality at a very decent price. By the way: Is the IoS from the Jura range or is it Strome? Anyway, 16oz worsted wool is a wonderful material for a kilt.
(BTW. Dou you know, that here will be a Bagpipe Competition and Highland Games in Xanten on the 14th and 15th of June?
    )
    Cheers
    Thomas
