Until I approach the level of my friend Connee, who literally cannot get into her third bedroom...well, she can open the door. And I guess with a little bit of work she can get to the far side of the bed. Kind of.
See, there are boxes of fabric in there. LOTS of boxes. So until I hit Connee's level, I DON"T HAVE A PROBLEM.

I know, I know...many of us have "tendencies". way2fractious has similar tendencies to mine, but he's out of control.
Really, Alan! I have no idea what you are talking about...

Or, maybe you could send me TWO of those 7-yard pieces, and I could sew ONE of them into a kilt for you with the second piece being payment.
Really! Tendencies toward being a fabric slu.... uh... umm... ...

it is know as S.A.B.L.E. in the knitting world. Stash Acquisition Beyond Life Expectancy. The theory is to have more yarn/fabric than you could possibly use in your lifetime. After you cross that point you are simply investing in younger generations.

Alan for what it's worth Wompet picked up the Maple Leaf that you speak of and I believe he wasn't overly impressed with the fbric or the seller. He might have some left over if you're needing a fix.
Hi I'm Grant and I have enough kilts*.

I knit and sew, and I have two sewing machines, an overlocker, and lots of knitting machines - lots and lots of them. I have a roof full of yarn and knitting machines, nicely floored and illuminated, plus a stack of wool fabric and a cupboard full of cotton fabric, and a heap of part finished garments.
Our house will never blow away, that's for certain.
The thing is that having bought good fabrics in the past when they were more easily available, now that there are fewer fabric shops I only have to go to my stash to obtain suitable fabric, rather than try to obtain it, and perhaps pay a premium as well.

I gave my sister (who quilts) a mug for her birthday that says:
"If I can't remember where I put it, do I have to count it as part of my stash?"

You are now my new hero!!!
I am just finishing my new kilt so I don't have a large piece of material hanging around anymore, but I do have a ton of small pieces that I may make into tartan stuff animals for my sisters children.

I am just upset I couldn't find the MacNaughton you spoke off.
I pride myself in my e-bay searching.
btw - the wife hates when I say, "I won" something on e-bay. She feels if you still have to pay for it, it is not winning. (still bitter about the snowblower that lasted less than a season and died)
