    That's a wonderful book, but it does not have patterns so much as design elements for making sock patterns.

    If she has knitted socks before this is an attractive one Toirneach kilt hose; and Here are some pix of BluesDoxieGa's skillful execution of it!

    I myself am a novice sock-knitter, so I took advantage of other material on knitty.com and my public library to get started.

    This website advertises a tartan kilt hose kit, with instructions. It is available only through retailers, but you may be able to order from one of them.
