It's like I said before, when I went to see Jersey Boys here at the Schubert Theatre a couple of months ago, I was the only guy not on stage who was wearing a jacket and tie...what was with that?
Campbell of Argyll, white shirt, black tie, vest and jacket. I'd go with the black hose but I just hate the look of white hose under any circumstances.
Enjoy yourself and be sure that some magician doesn't pull a rabbit out from under your kilt!

I have to agree w/ AA here. I LIKE going places where everyone is dressed up in something more than a formal track suit. I like his suggestion for your outfit. Also keep in mind if it IS chilly out they will probably have the inside OVERheated.
Have fun and er........take some pics?

Black hose may seem a bit too funereal, unless you dispense with the vest and wear your belt instead. On the other hand, if it gets too warm indoors you may want to doff your jacket, and then a vest looks better than just a shirt.
Decisions, Decisions. It was so much easier BK (before kilts).

That's part of the reason I was leaning toward the Campbell of Argyll with the matching tartan tie. It would add a little color, and look less funereal.

Seriously... I'd just throw on a suit and go, which was easy becase I only own one suit.

Re the idea of the black being too severe, that's where a dark or medium charcoal grey would come in very handy. It'd still coordinate but be a bit lighter.
Now where does one find such kilt hose? The standard issue seems to be black, navy, bottle green, Lovatt Green, Lovatt blue, maybe a beige, cream and stark white.

I've been to the Castle several times - dress up a little, and you'll have a good time.

Here is the Scottish Tartan Museum page on Lewis Kilt Hose they come in three different Greys
Charcoal, Grey, and Bison.
I just received a pair of Black Lewis Hose from Matt, as with all my Hawick Hose these are excellent quality.

I vote for the Black Watch, black tie, black hose combo...and, the waistcoat.
Report back on the reaction. I think you could have trouble getting in with a kilt.

So, it has been decided. As I was trying things on, I discovered that the high waisted Black Watch with the waistcoat and jacket will be WAY too warm no matter what the weather is like tomorrow, so I will be wearing the Campbell of Argyll with matching tie, and black hose, since my off white ones seem to have gone missing.
We'll be sure to take plenty of pics tomorrow.

Well the rules do say "ethnic" is okay
I look forward to the report of the event, I've always wanted to pay a visit to the Magic Castle since I was a kid!

Me, I'd skip it...I'd be certain to do something "wrong" and be confronted for it then we'd be off to the dance bigtime.
But, that's just me.

Magic Castle is the home of the Academy of Magical Arts and a private club in a beautiful Victorian mansion - think of all the magicians you see on stage -even today a number are in tuxes and even a number of the more modern magicians, e.g., Penn & Teller dress in suits. It's all part of the mystique of the art. I had an uncle, actually a Godfather, who was a semi-pro magician, it's what they do at the Magic Castle.
I'd say go with the black watch, style over comfort in this case, the Argylle with vest and a real bow-tie - buy or if you hace to rent, borrow or steal some ghillie brogues - this is an "the whole nine yards" affair - but then I am a big fan of magic. And who knows - maybe you can pull a rabbit out of your sporran.
