    Tartan Day, Raleigh, NC

Indeed, this Friday, Tartan Day, the North Carolina Renaissence Faire will have a special day of activites at the State Fairgrounds. From 3 to 10pm, Albanach will indeed play, and all those kilted will get in for half price!

Hope to see some kilted members there. I just received yesterday a SWK Standard Black Stewart kilt which I plan to wear. I'll let you know about it later on. Unfortunately as I expected, for me the 24" length is too long. There is no way I could win the Bonnie Knees contest. Drats! Have to see about getting it hemmed.

But kudos for SWK for the great service - ordered on Monday, arrived on Wednesday. Take that traditional kilt makers!

I'm sorry I can't make it down to Raleigh tomorrow, but other duties call.

Hem your kilt yourself! All you need to do is pick a line in the tartan that is in the right place for the fold-over, use a warm iron to set a crease at that point all the way around, working a few inches at a time. Then just stitch it down. It's really not that hard...it'll take you a couple of hours tops. Don't be afraid to try something new if it means that you'll feel better about your appearance at an all-day event.
