Lets talk blades

I have: 3 sgian dhus (one really nice); a dirk; 2 broadswords; and, a claymore. The claymore hangs on the wall. If I ever quit being lazy in the house, I'll take my two braodswords, cross them, and mount the blades on the wall behind my targe.

What I currently own are more utilitarian than anything.
Besides the afore mentioned "Cherokee scalper" I have the standard Buck clip blade (carried back in my outlaw biker days), an Arkansas toothpick, a Randall model 1 that I had made when I entered military service (based upon their very first one made in the early days of WWII), a WWII era German bayonet & matching scabbard (matching numbers, rarely seen these days) it was given to me by a WWI /WWII vet who took it off a dead German at Normandy, an 1840 model cavalry sabre (a.k.a the "wrist breaker"), a stag handled sgian dubh and assorted smaller lock back blades.

An addition in the works is a two handed claymore (based on 3 different swords) by the 'Mad Piper', and a Cold Steel dirk & 'Brave Heart' sgian dubh (for concealed carry at work). Also have been chatting with an Xmarkser about a custom sgian dubh -- I'm looking forward to that one

Here is my sgian dubh made by a pipe maker from Cantabria.

The handle is made of almond tree wood. The colour difference is due to the sunshine.
The blade is carbon steel that turns black (dubh...) with time . It is mounted with horn and bone.

The tip of the handle is inlaid with brass and ebony.

Unique...the style actually reminds me of the Finnish puukko knife.

A Kirpan is the traditional Sikh dagger; it is not from the Philippines. Perhaps you were thinking of a Kris, which is sometimes found in the Southern Philippines.

The most famous edged weapon of the Philippines, though, is the Bolo knife, which many an American soldier brought home from the Philippine War of 1898-1902.
