Mine is from Cerebus the Aardvark; Barbarian, Pope and Prime Minister. In a long running independent comic [300 issues, one story line] written and illustrated by Dave Sims the life story of Cerebus is told. Cerebus tries everything to make money and get through life including becoming Pope [thus Cerebite, a follower of Cerebus] and getting elected Prime Minister.
The avatar is a picture I found of the hero in Barbarian attack mode.

My name is my real name, Seán Liosliath Ó hAirt. It's a bit of a complicated matter, however. Though this is the name that appears on my Irish birth certificate, it is generally not the name I use in my day-to-day doings. Shortly after we moved to Canada, my parents decided to use the Anglicised forms of our names. (Mine is John Leslie Hart.) It proved easier for everyone involved and most Canadians didn't even realise our names were Irish anyway! My sister's actual name is Lasairfhíona Saoirse Ní Airt, if that gives you any indication! (My sister is Canadian-born and goes by Loreena.) Such is the fate of many immigrants, though usually not Irish ones. When I moved back to Ireland, I started using the original form of my name again, partly because my relatives use it anyway, and the general public didn't have difficult pronouncing it. Now that I'm back in Canada, I've reverted to the Anglicisation, more or less. Unusual or unique names are a bit more acceptable nowadays. My wife and I named our daughter Siobhán Éama.

My nickname I got from my hair. While I was in the Air Force, I had to keep my hair pinned back and up at all times. My coworkers knew I had red hair and that was about it. Then one day we had a squadron function where civvies were allowed and I came with my hair down.
Full out Irish curls in bright red.
A friend stated that I looked like a 'red lioness'.
After pointing out that lionesses don't *have* manes, I took a liking to the name and started using it on line.
My avatar is a picture that I drew specifically for use on this board as an avatar. Original, huh?

The late Nick Drake is one of my favourite songwriters and my favourite song of his is northern sky. Also I lived for many years in the far north of Canada and the northern sky always delighted me, especially the aurora, so it just made sense.

My avatar is a rather famous Virginia Gentleman from the War Between the States (I couldn't crop a decent one of myself, and the hair and beard are similar).
My handle is an old AD&D character from 20 years ago (it has the advantage of almost never being taken).

Bobby Lee. My great grand Dad, Samuel Taylor was a spy for the good General. Capture by Grant outside Richmond, ST was to be hanged because they claimed he was a soldier out of uniform. Never was a soldier, a sueter during the war he traveled through Virginia, DC and Maryland spying for Bobby Lee as he traveled about. He was let go though the day he was to be hanged. His hair had turned snow white over night and the Union officer claimed it wasn't the same man. My Grandmother gave me his inheritance when I turned 16, $10 of Confederate money!
