    The very visible, invisible Browns

    I find Browns scattered throughout the census records in NC and with 8-13 kids being fairly normal, they must have been a very loving bunch. Trying to find this one guy is like finding a needle in a stack of needles.

    Thanks for the sugestion on YDNA. That will be my next step.

    It might be quite helpful. With fairly common names, it can be useful in sorting them out and deciding who is related to whom.

    Testing 25 or 36 markers is usually the most helpful. 12 aren't enough to tell you much, and 63 usually aren't needed immediately. With FTDNA you can easily upgrade later to more if you get a perfect match at 25 or 36 without having to re-test.
