Howdy,
I echo the call for a sporran...especially if you can produce a matching set of rattles for the cones.
Enjoy the process.

I'm shying away from the sporran idea - although that's a great possibility.
One - I don't have an extra cantle that would do justice to the skin.
Two - I really don't need another dress, or semi dress sporran.
Three - I don't have the rattle - it was crushed.
Four - I really don't like the snake-skin sporrans I have seen.
Flashes might be an idea. There should be enough left over from what-ever other use it gets???

Somehow a kilt pin comes to mind. No ideas how it would be made, but it reminds me of the grouse claws I see every now and then. It would be organic and cool.

A kilt pin would be a great idea for the rattles - if I had them - or the next time I get some.

It won't be an everyday wear item, but it's the perfect size and shape for a dirk sheath.
You might also consider making it an accent piece of a larger item. For example, dress up a plain belt by cutting lozenge shaped pieces from the snake skin and sewing them to the belt. Since you could use the skin more sparingly it would go all the way around. Diamond shapes would also help utilize the skin more efficiently and would look great as an accent on a brown or tan belt.

It looks about the right size to cover the leather parts on a sporran belt. Not the one piece leather kind but the two part leather and chain type.
BTW, Do you have the head? That might make an interesting pin. Either mouth open facing out or just the top of the head so it looks like its biting the kilt.

Cover a belt buckle, perhaps?

I like this idea, and then James go here to get a rattle to make a kilt pin with:

I'm thinking that instead of a diced band on a Balmoral or Glengarry have a snakeskin band. It'd give a nice Southwestern touch to your kilted attire!
