My tuppence worth..
Geoffrey Tailors in Edinburgh, next to John Knox House, do make fine garments and i was most impressed with the advice they offered and have no doubt they would make a fine kilt from the selection i saw on display.
St Kildas, also edinburgh, also were very helpful and the kilts they showed me looked great but the cheap imported Prince Charlies they were offering really put me off and even the salesman look embarrassed when i pointed out how awful the jackets were.
Marchbrae in Edinburgh, opposite St Giles Cathedral, impressed me with their knowlege and the number of scots working in the store who knew their stuff. The kilts they had on display were as good as i have seen and the jackets were all made in Scotland by Scott Blair. I might well be buying an outfit from them but for now i am still shopping around.
If anyone has any other suggestions for where i might look do let me know.
