Any Recomandations of Kiltmakers In Scotland
Greetings to all, I am new to kilts.
I am looking to getting my first kilt. I was wandering if you had any advice on where to buy one. i am looking for a kilt maker in Scotland preferably around the Aberdeen area. I am willing to travel as far as Glasgow or Edinburgh.
I am looking for a hand tailored kilt and am willing to spend up to £1500
Thanks for your help
Ben

Welcome, from Inverness-shire.There are many first class kilt makers in Scotland and I expect you will get several names to choose from.My kilt maker and my father's,if that does not sound too grand,is Duncan Chisholm of Inverness, right by the castle.Top class product and top class service.

Welcome to this site, Ben! You should find it a useful source of information on kilt wearing. And a belated Happy 21st Birthday!!!
One kiltmaker known to and appreciated by a number of the members of this site-myself included-is Geoffrey (Tailor) in Edinburgh.

You won't need to spend more than about £400 for a top quality hand sewn kilt and I am sure Jock's recommendation of Chisholm's in Inverness will serve you well. from Edinburgh. If you want to try further afield then I would always recommend Stewart Christie here in Edinburgh. They have been bespoke tailors since the 19th century and will make you a kilt to be proud of.

Alex Scott & Co. is in Aberdeen and can make very good kilts--- among the best. If traveling to Edinburgh, I used to be partial to Kinloch Anderson but I'm not quite sure about their current status--- albeit I'm sure that they can still deliver a first grade product--- but I think you may still be better if if you are in Aberdeen to keep to Alex Scott.

with out a shadow of doubt you will regret not going to Redshank Scotland at Inveraray, their 8 yard hand crafted traditional kilts are in my opinion the finest money can buy and are built to last 3 generations.
The Master kilt maker Mrs Ann Campbell was a nurse in a former career, and affords as much love, care and consideration to her kilt making as she used to her patients, and with over 3000 stitches in the pleats alone that is one heck of a lot of love and care.
