The elastic wasn't the reason it was sent back. That is just a change I want to make. Sorry for not being more clear.

I took the kilt to the seamstress on Monday. The weather was brisk and she said she was surprised to see me in pants. I'd never been in there before, but she sees me on my almost daily walks with the kids.
Anyway, she is working on my changes. I should have it on Tuesday. Wish me luck!

    Finn,

I have had to have all three of my SWK’s tailored, as they are too long for me, but I like their standard model, the weight feels just right. I only wish they had more tartans available.

I'm almost settled on SWK for my next one. I'll see if this seamstress is capable- if so, she'll get the job of hemming the SWK. The main question is: Weathered McKenzie, Nightstalker or Saffron?
I also like USAK's Thompson Camel & Grey and Grey Granite. The Buzz Kidder canvas in woodland camo and a UK Workman's are also options.

Well, I would go with the UK, but that's because I think they're incredibly cool and I'm not the one paying for it.

I don't know anything about the buzz kidder other what's on their site, but they are on the unsorted list of kilts to get when I can afford to blow another hundred bucks.

By the way, if you are looking for a non-traditional, I would also suggest looking into alphakilts and alt kilt. They do a lot of custom stuff and are both fairly new so they don't get mentioned as often.

Now, if you go with the SWK, my vote would be nightstalker, followed closely by saffron. Of course, it's all a matter of taste.

    MIS,
I checked AlphaKilts yesterday and the site was down. I'll look at alt. Thanks!

You may want to consider that SWK standards are available in custom lengths for a few more dollars. http://www.stillwaterkilts.com/standardkilts.html (see the bottom of the page) According to a friend, the price for a custom was less than my tailor charged to hem mine. Also, as is Jerry's style, turnaround is pretty quick. Although, I don't think he ships them before you order. Oh, and I'd vote for Nightstalker.

Crap. I keep forgetting about that. For now it seems all the information available is in their section on the brotherhood. Hopefully they'll have a working site again soon.

Their baby kilts are actually quite nice. No reason not to order one of those.
