Oh boy! It has arrived....
What has arrived?
Why, my solid leather R-Kilt, that's what.
It is absolutely superb, and I am now publicly thanking Robert for his fine workmanship and customer service.
I selected the 'British Tan' hide with fine-quality brass fittings - snaps (on the pockets), the key ring holder and the numerous buckles, bells and whistles than come with these kilts. This has to be, I think, the heaviest kilt in my Kollection - heavier even than my leather Utilikilt or my 6 yard leather TFCK kilt.
Our current weather, with temperatures soaring higher every day, prevents me from wearing this kilt for longer than an hour, or long enough to have snapped some photos, but in a few months this number is going to get a LOT of wear; I guarantee it.
I am unable to show a photo of it here, but it is the last image on page 8 of my Photo Album at http://albums.imff.net/hamish Click on the thumbnail and then click again on the photo that comes up, for a clear view.
Robert, thank you. I commend your kilts to the world at large!

hamish,
excellent! excellent! excellent!
not only is the British Tan a serious piece of work, you are too! your choice of accent color is impeccable and extraordinary. you've made Robert's outstanding work look very handsome indeed.
I rate this a 10 on the X-Mark Kilt-O-Meter!

R-kilts are pretty awsome! Just about as rugged as a kilt can get. And the buckles, straps, and other "hardware" that Robert uses on his kilts... awsome! His leather kilts look seriously awsome too. I hope to be able to afford one some day. Did I mention the buckles and straps he uses... opps, deja vous! Of course, what else would you expext from an awsome guy like Robert!
Enjoy that kilt, Hamish!

Ham,
You look stunning in your new kilt (but somehow that is a given!).
That really is one sharp looking kilt!

DROOL...

P.S. that would definitely be a winter kilt on me. Even the leather UK's are heavier than my heaviest wool kilt, so, I doubt I will go with a leather anytime soon. But, I am coming around, at least to the R Kilts...

Very nice, Hamish! It's not at all the colour I had in mind when you posted the info. I like it.

Thanks for a great pic Ham.
I got my leather RKilt in saffron, before British Tan was a choice...now I want another one!!
Both my brown leather UK and my saffron RKilt are great, but I find myself wearing the RKilt more because of the pockets. Glad UK is adding pocketes to their leather kilts, just wish it had happened before I spent sooo much for one without. My brown Freelander sporran does work well with the leather UK, ironically its held up with an RKilt sporran strap ;)
I've worn my leather RKilt here in the southwest U.S. in the summer...but the trick was to wear it at high altitude (7,800') where its cooler or indoors in the air conditioning at a banquet.
What I do like about wearing leather kilts in hot weather is that it seems to help the leather "mold" to my body better. The leather sort of stretches out then finds where it belongs if I wear the kilt hiking in the heat a while. Seems to make it "my" kilt.
And hey, ain't that leather smell great??!!
