Nice to be able to order locally (even if local is 9000 kms [6000 miles for you folks still not using metric] away on the other side of the country

I thought that a km is .6 of a mile so that 9000 kms would be 5400 miles

I also didn't realize that Canada was that much further across than the U.S.

That must be why your football fields are longer

distance between Vancouver and Toronto: 5873 Miles/9452 kilometers and simply rounded up and down

I don't know where that number came from, but it's way off for straight line distance. Between Toronto and Vancouver is only 2091 miles (3366 km). From Vancouver to Halifax is 2758 miles (4439 km).

Maybe they were talking driving distance, but that's still quite a difference (although you have to go all the way around Lakes Huron and Superior).

It looks a lot wider than the US on flat maps, but the world is a globe. Note that Canada does have a greater area than the US.
