Alan,
Thanks for the post...I checked out the Buzz Kidder site at:
http://www.buzzkidder.com/page/page/512029.htm and I'm partial to the Country Sporran...Looks simple, non-intrusive (perhaps smaller) and definitely priced right.

Grumpy old cantankerous Steve the Wizard up there at Freedom Kilts will turn out a really nice tartan Freedom kilt for you.......with pockets. Now, they cost what a custom kilt costs, but I've seen two of them and they sure are nice.
There's also the "Hillwalker" kilt from Scotland, though the maker slips my mind right now. They also come with pockets. If you have pockets, y'all don't need a sporran.
Of you could take a deep breath, and make your own kilt...........with pockets.

I actually have the Inverness model, which is supposed to be larger than the Country. I don't know how much., but I'm very happy with it, and use it regularly. I appreciate most the drawstring on it, which serves to keep my assorted items inside.

Scotchcorner sells one, not sure if they're the shop you're thinking of.
Myself I can not bring myself to wear a traditional kilt without a sporran. I just picked up a Black Watch Heritage Polyviscous kilt from Brad at the Kilted Nation and have not worn it out yet because my sporran chain is too short for me now.
The only traditional kilt I don't wear a sporran with is my great kilt, but if tied over your shoulder there are two nice pouches formed within the plaid that I carry my stuff.
I never minded my UK not having a sporran because as was mentioned it has the snaps that break up the front apron.
I'm hoping to get one of the aforementioned Rkilts Taz devil sporrans, those things are awesome looking. I'm also playing around with the buildasporran.com applet. That is probably going to be my next sporran.
I have a seal skin with fur sporran from Scotchcorner that I really like the look of, but it is very thin and doesn't hold much and still close. I also have a deer hide pouch I got at the VA Ren Faire two years before my first kilt that I've started using as a sporran, sometimes I add that to my great kilt.

The Buzz Kidder sporrans are great, and their size actually makes them useful. I would recommend them highly.

It's also sort of a rite of passage here at X marks to get a Freelander Sporran. I have one.
