    Patterns?

Does anybody know where I can get a pattern for any of the various Scottish jackets? I am having a hard time finding any, and my seamstress needs one to either convert one or make one from scratch. Any help would be appreciated.

Here is a link to a thread called "Kilt Jacket pattern" By Prester John

It talks about a low cost patern for a kilt vest and jacket.

All these links ar X Marks the Scot links, so they won't take you out of the forum.
Good luck, hope everything works out alright.

If you really want a pattern, Folkwear sewing pattern #152 is for a kilt and includes a jacket and vest. I do not know how good that particular pattern is, but Flokwear sewing patterns tend to be pretty good.

You're getting pretty adventurous. I can't even tackle a belt loop repair.

Jude used the Folkwear pattern to successfully tailor a PC from a tail coat for me. Worth getting one.

Warlock, when I wanted to help converting a tailcoat to a PC jacket I "made" a pattern of what I wanted based on the threads above (it really was nothing exotic at all, very much done in ten minutes with a ruler and artistic license). I also printed out pictures off XMTS, including some of the conversions done by others.
I took all this to a local tailor and showed her what I wanted and how I envisioned it. I spent about 20 min going over everything. She had it ready in less than a week and did it perfectly. BTW, her fee---$50.

    It's worth a try.

Ditto on the Folkwear pattern 152. I've seen one sewn from that pattern that was indistinguishable from a 'store-bought'. Though, that may depend somewhat upon the skill of the seamstress.
