New Edinburgh Castle Kilts
There is a picture of the new Edinburgh Castle Tartan kilts by 21 Century kilts
on the BBC Scotland web site:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/default.stm
Go to Scotlands Big Picture near the bottom of the page.
I like the tratan but I am not sure about the pockets...

Just to make it a bit easier:
I really like the tartan.

I don't know why they need them when Historic Scotland already has its own tartan that is standard across their sites.
Can we expect a Caerlaverock and a Stirling Castle tartan to follow?
And are the staff actually going to wear them? Last time I was at Edinburgh Castle none of the staff were kilted.
I agree with haukehaien, I am not sure about the pockets either.
Judgement reserved.

Thanks haukehaien for posting that pic for me.
I was wondering about those sporrans. Are they special sporrans for the guides of the castle? They look like they are embossed.

Great tartan, but I'm not such a big fan of TFCK.

I really like the tartan, but I would need to see the kilt better before commenting on the pockets. I like Howie's kilts, however, I don't care for all of his innovations.

Thanks for posting that pic. Nice clothing, but why does it make me squirm?
I couldn't find the photo on that page, but I did notice the story about how one old mill is being restored and preserved through lottery money, which I found an interesting and hopeful use of that money.

The tartan itself is nice enough and while I have a Unionkilt and like the pockets on that I don't favour the style of pockets on these kilts.
HOWEVER, each to their own.
The revered Hamish himself has some kilts like this and he makes them look darn good.

Pockets? What pockets? Are those some type of cargo-style pocket on the front? I only see in on the gent on the left (or is this just a fold of the kilt?).
Why carry a sporran if you have pockets? Seems a bit superfluous.
I like the tartan but withold judgement on the kilt until examining one closer.
