Kinda doubtful for me this coming weekend. Hoping to do a transmission swap on the car, so I likely will be trousered this weekend. If I do that Sunday, I may be kilted on Saturday. There's a Pacific NW camera collectors meet at the Puyallup Fair that day... Might go down there to see what bargains I can find...

Ok, I'm going to be kilted on saturday the 15th. Which is when St. Patrick's day is in Ireland. Good enough for Ireland, good enough for me. I will be at the parade during the day, at my party in the afternoon, and I'll end up at St. Andrew's for some pub fun. I'll be there 8ish, especially if people want to come meet me kilted, or not kilted for that matter. Come one, come all.
Let's plan something for tartan day! Pub night? Who's in?
I'd hate to see this peter out. Is anyone still interested? If so I'll start talking to "the boss" about a kitchen pass for a few hours.

I'm in, but I'm not sure of the location The Barry was talking about. Let me know when and where and I'll be there if it's near Seattle.

Sorry guys, I dropped the ball on this one.
Classes started again here at UW, and I've found myself quite busy. As a consequence, my presence here on the board(s) and the footwork that I was going to do to plan these events have gone the wayside.
But, I have a new black shadow-tartan SWK that I need a reason (read: excuse) to wear. So it will be saturday or sunday evening. It will be at a Scottish pub here in Seattle. In the next week I hope to have a plan. We'll plan a few weeks ahead of time so that more of us can get there.

Eh, no biggie. Been busy this weekend anyway. On Thursday, I lost complete use of 5th gear (aka overdrive - yes, a British Laycock de Normanville unit - on a Volvo wagon) on my car's transmission , so, the past two days have been spent preparing for the big swap tom'w morning. Last time I was kilted, was last night, for going out to dinner with the family. Probably won't be back in tartan until Monday @ the earliest.
Just wear the shadow tartan SWK to school. That'll give it some time to be on display. Back in 2003-2004, it wasn't very uncommon to see me @ the UW, helping my sis out with stuff, whilst kilted...

You need an excuse to wear a kilt? Ah, I've got one for ya.. "today is the first day of the rest of your life"
I'd like to see the black shadow-tartan SWK. I've heard there is a design to it that you can only see when the light hits it just right.

Yeah, the SWK shadow tartan kilt looks jet black until light hits it from certain angles.. Then a plaid pattern comes out of the weaving pattern. It's all black thread, the effect is in the weaving. It looks really cool. I bought it to wear casually, so I'll be donning it soon.

Has anyone been to:
St. Andrew's Bar & Grill
7406 Aurora Ave N.
Seattle, WA 98103
Phone: 206-523-1193
I passed this place on the way home today, never knew it was there. I've just read some reviews of it and it sounds like a great place. Just thought I'd throw that in as an idea for a future kilt night.
By the way, what are we called? Has a decision been made as to our handle?

the pub's name sounds interesting. I live to far away to just check it out but would gladly drive there for an evening gathering
I have not seen any votes for the nominations. Maybe we should make one of those polls and record some votes? anybody in our NW group know how to do that?
