San Antonio Highland Games

A bright sunny day provided a great background for the Highland Games this year. Things kicked off with the bands and parade of clans.

San Antonio Pipe and Drum Band

Homeschool Highlanders

One of the wee lads competing in the games.

52 lb weight for distance.

This fellow threw the 52 lb weight 38 feet.

WW1 Scottish Soldier

A great Celtic Rock band from here in TX called Needfire. They are a good high energy band that puts on a good show. At the end of the show they ended up with all but the drummer walking through the audience playing.

Yes, that is a didgeridoo. Didn't know that was part of Celtic music.

This is a buddy here at Ft Sam for 3 months going through Officer Basic Course. Finally got him to try on a kilt. We'll probably head to Austin one weekend to buy one when he decides which model he wants. He did allow that it was an interesting feeling being in a kilt. The guy running the booth told him once he got into it he'd never give it up.

We just got home from spending most of Sunday at the games. The family and I had a blast. Both my wife and son have crashed. i'm looking forward to the next event I can attend.
