One thing to add: I've always been really active in the Irish and Scottish community in Wisconsin. But I've only been wearing kilts and playing bagpipes since college. So now, people think that's what I'm all about. No. I'm the same person, but one aspect of my life, which has always been there, is just more visible.

Such is life. People will tend to categorize each other all the time. Only a very few will take the time to really get to know you. In your case, the pipes and kilts are a very visible way to lump you into a category.

Try not to be too hard on them. It is only human nature.
