As I am sure your know, the key to controlling gout is finding the source of the trigger. It isn't always on the lists of food and drink that are "off limits". For me it was always clams. I love em and so does the Gout!!!

I had it under control by avoiding them but eventually the attacks came back and they were frequent and fierce. I cut out shellfish entirely but couldn't figure it out what was triggering the continued attacks. I started a journal listing every meal and my daily PB&J stood out!

Although it wasn't on "the lists" - peanuts (a legume) seemed to be triggering the attacks. My doctor said that doesn't make sense but since cutting peanuts out of my diet, I have not had an attack (knock o wood). Have also stopped the daily prescription with no adverse affects.

Find the source and eliminate it!
