You've got nothin' on me!
Charcoal Tweed Argyll and vest
Barathea Argyll and Vest
Prince Charlie
Sheriffmuir Doublet
Montrose doublet
Now, the Doublets are real fancy tackle as they require things like tartan vests, jabot, dress sporran, fancy hose, and formal brogues. Add in optional fly plaids and accoutrements. ££££! $$$$! €€€€!
As for the dress sporran, I have been causing a fuss, but get a nice eBay one to start. Then save for a really good dress sporran from somebody like L & M, Craigie or Lamont Sporrans. The cheapie will do, but you will find that a more expensive custom job is much more satisfying with this kind of outfit.

Of course tartan hose to match your kilt are the high end level of formality. However, until you decide to get those, there are plenty of other options. The rental places all want to give you off-white hose, so they are acceptable. They also have the benefit of showing off the laces of ghillie brogues.
I happen to like black hose with my formal outfit, as they balance against the black jacket well. As far as shoes, a nice set of black dress shoes work fine with the outfit.

"Acceptable"! That word can get you into trouble around these here parts!
Off white hose with formal wear are as acceptable to some people as inexpensive eBay sporrans. Good dark hose, or even W. Brewin dark hose, will do quite well. As I pointed out before, Tartan hose ties you to one tartan, and if you have different tartans and don't want to be tied to one, then dark hose are a definite option. It's nice to have a choice when it comes to formal dress, especially if you are going to be at several formal occasions in a short period.
