So I walked in today, with my Irish National SWK standard. wearing a tie and dress shirt. along with a tweed jacket. he looked at me and laughed. said that he had expected it out of me and that I needed to change. so I went and changed into my $6.99 bargin-bin khaki pants. I walked in and he stopped me and said that he was sorry. He had thought alot about what had been said, and since there are no laws dictating what a person can or can't wear that I can wear my kilt if I feel so inclined to. so I put it back on. and I sat on the jury. the trial (nothing like what I was used to with mock trials) lasted 45minutes including the voir dire... I remember back in the 8th grade sitting through 2 weeks of in-class trial. it was SUPER dumbed down.
and as for my GPA, I have currently got a 3.986 cumulative. I am ranked at 119 of 748. and I received a 100% in the trial because I was the lead juryman I lead the debate and read the deliberation back to the court.
He told me after class that he has had problems in past years where kids start laughing and you can't hear whats happening and it just gets bad. he also appologised to me.
I'd say win in my book.
oh and I rarely ever go at anything with a "screw him" attitude. that NEVER works.

I'm glad he apologized to you. From what I'd gotten out of your original post, I found the biggest offense was how he spoke to you regarding the kilt and why you wore it. Sometimes we have to do things we don't like, but things can always be stated with more maturity and civility.
It sounds like this teacher has issues controlling the class/students... which isn't your problem, but his.

HA, yeah. back story is that he is a seasoned teacher. He has taught for 14 or so years, and never has he encountered a kilt. He has had a few cross dressers though. now he taught for 9 or so of his years at an inner city public school. I think that is where his control issue stems from. hes told us stories of never being in control. horrific. point is though I am at a suburban school (not to offend anyone) thats about 85% white and upper-middle class (or crazy in debt). Now, WE ARE MESSED UP IN OUR OWN WAYS. I am not even going to deny it at all we have gang wars and drug problems like none other, its just that we for the most part do what we are told. and don't act out too much. I mean I love a good clean fight, and I've been waiting 3 years to see a good clean fight. fights are usually over in about 10 minutes, well we did have a problem where a mother came into our school walked up to a student and beat the poo out of her for punching her pregnant daughter in the stomach. that was a bad day. wow, first time I'd seen a grown woman tazed by a police man! anyway I digress, not too much acting out really happens.
now to give you some info Alan H, Our class is an elective, its not a state required. Sadly the state shot themselves in the foot there, in ohio, you take the OGT (ohio graduation test) sophomore year. if you pass it, all you have to do is get the credits and you graduate. so I've known for 3 years now that I can't really mess it up unless I just stop coming. The OGT is an insult really, if you can read you can pass it. Now I agree with you he does need to maintain some control. it is a discussion based class, we do lots of debating.
over all hes a nice guy and he is always into joking around with us. I don't know what really spawned his original unhappiness to kilties. I am not sure. all I do know for sure is that, I got to wear my kilt, and I got a 100% and I did it all without being any bit uncivilized on either part. it was calm and it worked. and I am happy!
please forgive any of my comments here I was sort of just typing as I went, not too well thought out. some of it might be a bit testy for the board and I don't want to offend anyone.

Why didn't I think of that... maybe I did, but you used a secret brain wave neutralizer thingy that took it from me and erased the thought completely from my mind...
The OGT makes it easy, or at least it sounds like it to me. And here I am working my butt off for my GPA...

HAHA! I still work my butt off. I still have to pass classes to get the credits, the OGT is the state required test its simple. and don't feel bad, unlike most school my district is on an 7 point grade scale not a 10.
93-100 = A
85-92 = B
77-84 = C
70-76 = D
