Harris Tweed
According to the "Oban Times"01/05/08 the Harris Tweed mill at Shawbost are making 36 people redundant. It is still tough out there for the Harris Tweed trade.

I saw this on STV. It's sad; the company said that it was mainly concentrating on high end sport coats. I know the textile industries in North America have taken a big hit; I hope Harris Tweed can survive.

Very sad news, Harris Tweed has always been there, my favourite Argyll Jacket is from Harris Tweed, I certainly hope they can turn the corner.

Doesn't Matt Newsome offer kilts in Harris Tweed? Those of us who are able to should all put in an order and help support the industry. I may just spend my tax rebate check on one...

Why, I surely do:

I also offer, through the museum gift shop, kilt jackets & vests in Harris Tweed, as well as yardage:

And I'm working to develop the line to include Harris tweed kilt-cut shooting jacket and Harris tweed Inverness capes, as well. More on that as I get the details worked out, but be alert!
I love Harris tweed cloth, have three Harris tweed kilts myself, and really want to support the industry (which is largely family run).

Well, it may stop things getting any worse for a while.
