Piper Steve;
Did you have to communicate much via email or phone with the owner at GlengarryHats.com to ensure the fit? Before, I ordered a caubeen, which I like very much, but he never responded to my email when I had questions. I'm not trying to dog on the vendor, as his product line looks very impressive to me, but I would have to have some tailoring done to the doublet.

I've ordered several items from www.glengarryhats.com . Sometimes they arrived in less than 10 days, other times a month. My e-mails were always answered.
The doublet is made entirely from measurements the buyer provides. There's a section to provide those required on his website order form.
I recvd it within six weeks direct from the manufacturer in Pakistan. BTW, he doesn't conceal the fact that his inventory is made there. Everything I've purchased has been top drawer.
I've heard that sometimes he doesn't respond in a timely manner, but that's not been the case for me.
Slainte yall,
steve

Yes indeed.... the sacrifices we pipers must endure for our art.

You look GREAT! My doublet is really old, so it's all buttons and hook-and-loops. And you think the cross belt makes it hard to move? Just try wearing a full piper's plaid and dirk. They make it impossible to drive to your gig.

I believe it might be a wise practice to put on your doublet, crossbelt, and plaid on when you get where you're going, if for no other reason than you'll get wrinkles in your plaid if you sit on it.
Though I guess since you might need someone's help to get the plaid on, that might mean needing to do it at home.

10-4 Rubber Ducky.
I've seen a few pipers who can get plaids donned solo and still look presentable - but they seem to be in the minority.
I'm not terribly fond of them or feather bonnets. It's just too warm most of the year here to justify the extra trouble & discomfort.

I'm certainly not one of those people, and I know people in bands I've played with who can barely manage to dress themselves presentably in an Argyle jacket.
And yes, it's a pain to wear No. 1 dress, and I'm glad I don't have to. If nothing else, there are so many more parts to lose, forget, or break.
