AL-58 is my name on quite a few forums. Alan (AL) is my name, born in 58. The current avatar is a recent picture, it has been other kilted photos, sometimes with one of my dogs or one of my bikes. I guess they just show my interests.

The jackdaw is a European bird. I chose that moniker because I read somewhere that men in kilts were like strutting peacocks. That reminded me of the line in a G&S song about the jackdaw strutting in peacock feathers. Sometimes, I wished I had picked the Masked Shrike! Sounds cooler. Anyway...
The avatar is me practicing right before a performance to pipe in the graduating class of Federal law enforcement officers at the Federal Reserve Bank-Houston Branch. I know the department head at that bank and was honored to pipe for them.

I sure wish mine was more interesting, but sadly....
Cynthia is my first name. It's been a long time since I joined a forum without using my usual userid, but I decided to drop the Darth and just go by Cynthia.
The avatar is the only photo I had at the time to use (I'm on my hubby's laptop because my other two computers are down at the moment). There was an event or two coming up at the time, and I wanted to have something up where people had some idea of what I looked like in case they wanted to say hello to me and find me at an event. I'm holding juggling clubs in the photo and acting a little goofy. My husband and I met through a comic book company (he wrote, I drew -- the company was tiny and only put out one or two comics before it went under), but our friendship and dating was through juggling. I learned how to do basic juggling in elementary school and he taught himself when he was a kid and knew a lot of advanced stuff. I asked him to teach me more juggling tricks and that was that
I'm sure at some point I'll change my avatar when I get some more recent photos.

Hmmm, interesting that I haven't replied to this thread yet.
Anyway, my user name is pretty simple, it's a shortened form of my name, David Dove.
The avatar is my recently designed Dove tartan.

I agree that this thread has pretty much been done before, but the prior one was simply forum name, not avatar. My avatar is Dark Phoenix at the height of her powers and attractiveness. Fits well with my signature line I think. Guess I've kind of gotten used to being a goddess of sorts. Comes from being married to a worshipful man!
Be well,

Finally got a photo for my avatar. This is a piece of Jacobean inspired crewel work that I did several years ago. The actual piece is about 4X4 inches and uses 15 different types of stitches.
Done in a mix of wool, metalics and silks on linen. Some of the wool is handspun and hand dyed.
Appropriate in both theme and technique, I think.
