Well, Herman, if the jackets and fly plaids are being supplied, you would be remiss in not wearing them. Personally, I think they look fine together. I'm actually starting to lean towards the style shown by Matt, I think that's a rather sharp look.

The bride and groom are paying for and supplying the Argyle jackets and Kilts / fly plaids ( Gordon Dress Tartan) for their wedding in the latter part of august. (Very old southern family wilth more money than a federal mint)
I just think that the addition of the fly plaid would be a little over the top.

Thanks! But hey! Whats wrong with that sporran? its artic fox. It is a bit more fluffy than the pictures of the examples on the site, but it was custom made and I like it. I think it looks better with a white shirt and bow tie, and white hose instead of black tho. I dont have a black sporran yet, but I've had my eye on those skunk skin ones, like Matt has in his picture tho.

Be very careful, my friend. That's one of the beautiful Furgeson Brit sporrans and they are HIGHLY addictive!

My friend got married a few weeks back, the groomsmen (of which I was one) all wore Argyles and vests (it looked sharp IMO) and the groom wore a plaid because the bride wanted him to stand out more. It looked really good on him.
Personally, I would only have the groom wearing a plaid and the groomsmen without.

Sorry guys, weddings are for brides. Give her what she wants, it's her wedding. Hopefully they will supply the fly plaid. You didn't say what Tarten. SWK has some reasonable Fly plaids in a few tartens. Personally I like the look and enjoyed the two pics posted.

I also liket the argyll jacket with bow tie, with or without vest. I don't like flyplaids, but if the bride wishes it, wear it.

I have to agree here. For the most part, men in weddings really aren't all that concerned with the way people are dressed. However, you have to remember that very likely this young lady has been planning this wedding for the majority of her life, probably even before she had the groom picked out! As my niece told me right before her wedding when I complimented her on how beautiful she was, "This is the one day in her life that a girl gets to be the Queen." If the bride wants fly plaids, then wear the fly plaids. She's the Queen.
"My beloved America, thank you for your children. If your children want to become soldiers I will train them. When they are hungry I will feed them. When they are thirsty I will give them water. When they fight for freedom I will lead them. When they are unsteady on the battlefield I will motivate them. If they die on the battlefield I will bury them. So help me God."

By the way, if any of the groomsmen won't be needing those Argyll jackets after the wedding, and wish to offer them up to those who will give them a loving home, you know where to send them!
