As for the horn tip down rule-- I drink from a horn and with people who drink from horns. I've not heard of its being rude to drink with tip up, but it is certainly impractical-- the beer slides toward the drinker's face with a hyperbolic acceleration (due to the curve) and often splashes all over drinker. Every horn has its own special optimum downward curve.

Shame that they changed the shape of beer cans...you can't "pigboat" them any more..now that was entertainment!
