Canned Haggis? Was that Caledonian Kitchen? We get that in special plastic bags for our Rabbie Burns Supper each January.

I was there Saturday from 10-1pm and then again from 5-10pm. Had a great time. If I saw anybody, I didn't know it. Ron, I was in the bodhran workshop on Saturday, were you in that one?

Ron, if you're ever in Grapevine go to the British Emporium. They sell Caledonian Kitchen stuff (In fact, I just posted in our social group how we should have a kilted outing to Grapevine in the near future).

Darnit! I missed Rowdy... we probably left too soon. Ah well

I was there on Saturday from about 11am to a quarter to 10pm. The weather was warm to hot and quite windy. It was partly cloudy but still sunny most of the time. I wore sunscreen, but I still got a little burnt.

I didn't see or meet anyone from the forum here, so far as I know. I took a lot of pictures, though. I saw a little bit of everything. The only thing I missed that I really wanted to see was the harp competition, as I had tarried a little too long at the Highland dancing tent. (Also, it took me a while to discover the location of the hidden workshop rooms. )

What a great thread. I've been attending this event for years.

I'm looking forward to photos. Did anyone enter the photo contest?

I took about 170 photos of widely variable quality. A few of them were probably worth entering in the photo contest, but that wasn't really at the top of my mind at the time. I will start a thread on the "Show us your pics" forum shortly.

That's so cool, MoF. Thank you.

I went to the Bodhran workshop on Sunday as I didn't get up in time to make it there for the Saturday one. I think the Harp competition on Saturday was cancelled due to some kind of memorial service that some were attending, don't know if they did it on Sunday instead or not.

I saw two brands of canned Haggis there. One was Caledonian Kitchen and the other was a different brand sold at The Frugal Corner's tent. I bought Caledonian Kitchen just because I already know it's a brand/style I like.

I don't claim to be an expert, but for canned haggis, Caledonian Kitchen is pretty darn good.

Sorry I'm late posting. I was out on Saturday from about noon until just after 3pm.
The large tent near the clan tents is where I started. I walked into the tent to find our very own RowdyRed up on stage as one of three bachelorettes competing to win a date with a big muscle bound caber tosser. Dating game style, the bachelor asked questions to 3 ladies from the other side of a curtain. Red's answer were a little more risque than the other ladies (Red had been drinking already), and she wasn't picked. Oh well. Then I was hanging out at the MacPherson tent for awhile with RowdyRed, Margo, and her husband before they all went to the country dance workshop. During the workshop I was over getting a bite to eat, and hanging out with Lambda for a short while in the NTCP&D area.

Jim Walters (owner of the Caledonian Kitchen) is buddy of mine, and lives about a 1/2 mile north of me. He supplies the haggis to our Boy Scout group for our annual burns night. I always end up buying something from him every time he sets up at a festival. Of course besides the store in Grapevine, I'll order from him and pick it up at his house.

If you were there Friday night, the Scouts in green shirts and kilts are in the same unit as me. We awarded a prestigious Masonic youth award to one of our members Friday night as well.
