I can understand why you gents were walking as it would've taken a good sized vehicle to handle all that manhood based on the reckoning that "A man in a kilt is a man and a half." Not many cars these days seat six.
Well Craig, in actual fact, motorised vehicles of any description are not permitted on The South Downs Way (apart from farm tractors etc. belonging to the owner of the land which The Way crosses), so we would have to walk up there! Being an ancient way and classified as what is now known as a Bridleway, only walkers, horse-riders and pedal cyclists may use it.
Hamish, what color are the hose & shirts you & Robin were wearing? They don't appear to be tan, but they go very well with both of your kilts.
.
They are slightly differing shades of beige, Craig, although the colour of our hose might also be referred to as being 'Stone'.
I know Robin agrees with me and I have for years maintained that beige shirts and hose 'go' perfectly with almost any tartan. The main exceptions to that are Dress tartans, which usually contain a lot of white. Beige and white are not always happy together.
Take care,
Ham.
