It's considerably more costly in Tennessee due to revenue taxes. The last 750 ml bottle I splurged for was close to sixty frogskins.
Tennessee is considerate enough not to inflict its citizenry with a state income tax, so they make up the difference elsewhere.

I had thought we were usually higher than TN down here but recent events have proven me wrong, but that's why I buy at the state store. The HP was $39 I think, and the Laphroaig is ~$45 or so, if I recall correctly.
But I went shopping in Turpin's neck of the woods and at the regular retail store it was around $5 to $8 a bottle cheaper for everything than it is at my state store. Regular liqour stores around here are outrageous.
