    New hand knit hose

I didn't know if I should put this under accessories or DIY, as these are hand-knit hose. But since I didn't make these myself, I opted for here.

These are the latest hose that my lovely wife has made for me. I'm calling them my "Q-Bert" hose, because the design reminds me of that classic video game.

She actually found this cube pattern in one of her knitting magazines (or maybe it was on line, I can't recall), as a lady's sock, with the design repeating over the whole sock and foot. A bit much for a mans kilt hose, methinks, but she immediately pointed out to me that it would make a nice hose top.

    Here is the end result:

If anyone is interested, the jacket I'm wearing in the above pic is one of our new Harris Tweed shooting jackets, which the museum will be retailing. Details in this thread.

And if anyone really likes the hose, this is one of four different designs of custom hand-knit hose tops that we are currently working on that we will also be offering in the museum. Be on the lookout!

Oh my indeed! Matt, you are one lucky man.

Good looking hose Matt. I'm lucky enough that my Mum's clicking away knitting my wedding hose now! Hand knitted hose from a loved one is very hard to beat in my book.

Very ice looking hose! That does remind me of Q-Bert. Giving away our age are we?

As a hose knitter myself, congrats. Those are great socks. Here is a hint I picked up in the Highlands. When knitting hose for "spindleshanks" double the yarn in the back of the calf, where the calf muscle is. It makes the calf "bulkier". Of course, I'm not implying anything here, just furthering a bit of lore from the Highlands.
