Chicago Kilt outing, Sunday, July 13th - Pub crawl
Hey, folks, this desert rat is flying into O'Hare on the 12th & I'll be in town for a week (flying out on the 19th).
I would love to meet with as many members of the Chicagoland Rabble as possible. I'm also planning on going to the Duke of Perth pub. If I could combine those 2 activities, that'd be perfect!
I'm suppose to be getting into O'Hare about 1800 on the 12th, so by the time I get our bags, the rental car & get to my in-law's place, I'm thinking I could still make it to the Duke of Perth by 2100 or so. That'd be pushing it, I know, but I figure a Saturday night would probably work best for most people, & that's the only Saturday night I'll be there. I could also meet any evening from the 13th thru the 18th, except for Monday night, the 14th - that's my wife's birthday (the reason for the visit). I'm also thinking Sunday afternoon, the 13th, say, around 1500 or 1600 might be a good time to meet.
So, how about it?
Let me know if you can meet & when.
Slainte!

Dude...I think that a few of us may be able to manage this...and the Duke will no doubt be wondering where the 'ell all these kilted chaps came from.
...but it is a decent joint so everybody should make a point of stopping in there and enjoying it.
Now consult the other Chciago kilt night thread started by Beloitpiper and you'll note that MacTavish of Japan is goign to be in town during July so if we can possibly find a way to coordinate all of this we will be hailed by successive generations an truly brilliant.

DOH!!!
That was a typo on the original title - I'll be in Chicago JULY 12-19, not June 12-19. No time travel this time.
(Thanks Glen C & Auld Argonian for catching that!)

Let's settle on a date. MacTavish of Japan is suggesting the following week July 25th or 26th (he's getting married on the 19th), so we may HAVE to have TWO kilt nights in July. So much Whisky, so little time! Sigh!

Actually Sunday afternoon is better for me. I have to go to b'day for a golfing buddy of mine on Saturday the 12th.

Sunday works for me too. I have a postering session for my new show, but it should be done by then.
You'll recognize me. I'll be the guy in a kilt.

No apology needed, Glen. Actually, Sunday afternoon would work better for me, too, because as I mentioned, with me scheduled to arrive at about 1800 on Saturday (& I'm flying American Airlines which doesn't have a very good track record right now for on-time arrivals), trying to go someplace Saturday night would be pretty hectic.
So, how does 1500 CDT (3pm) on Sunday, July 13th, at the Duke of Perth sound?
And as mentioned in the other Chicago Kilt Night thread for MacTavishofJapan, I like the idea of a Clark Street pub crawl.
I'm looking forward to meeting yous MUGs (pun intended, of course) this weekend.

Well, the two joints that I spotted walking South from The Dukes were:
Crossroads...here reviewed:

And The Galway Arms:

Of the two, it looks like The Galway Arms seems to have the edge in popular appeal.

Well, we just got back tonight from our Oregon vacation, but I'm game (if the spouse turns me loose). I'll check with her tomorrow and post something back here.
