Well, thanks for the various advices but the dog not going after bunnies doesn't so much bother me as it does amaze me. Portia is an urban pet, after all, and it's almost better if she doesn't light out after rabbits...it's just that I'm usually braced and hanging on to the lease with both hands and waiting for a burst that never comes.
There are several other people that have Beagles here abouts. If we did ever put them together to form a pack, I'd bet that they'd all turn around, go into the house and lay en masse on the sofa with their tongues hanging out. Urban dogs...whataya gonna do?
One of my neighbors has a Beag that's red and white only...they call him a "coppertop". Mine is a "lemon"...yellow and white only. Wish that they weren't both "fixed" as they'd probably have some good looking puppies.
Best

My mutt would be sure to commandeer a pillow, as well.

Dogs that attack or chase things out of habit or nature are really dangerous to themselves and others.
Over time I have seen accidents in the streets when dogs race around with no thought of obeying their owner, just hell bent on chasing whatever it is they have in their sights. The noise when they are run over is really upsetting.
For me, a dog that is totally laid back and amiable is the one to have around the house and people.
