thanks for the comments men, i will look into slick the edges, as for the leather, no idea what it was. cost me $2.50 at an emporium for a sq meter of it, so not a bad deal...

All comments and critique's are welcome, as it is a working process and the will all be viewed with the objective of completing a nice product, so to speak.

Nice looking sporran. I'd suggest for a more finished look to the stitching, at least in front, that you sew the seam so that the alternating intervals between holes are stitched for an uninterrupted sewn look. Another way to give the flap edge a finished look is to cut a thin, narrow liece of leather for edging as shown below, glue it around the raw edge of the flap, then punch and sew.

Two quick ideas on the edges. If you can find one at a Tandy store, an edge beveler will round off the edges and give it a smoother finish.

One thing I've found that works great for slicking the edges is a piece of canvas or denim, with a little saddle soap. Wet the edge of the leather, then get a dab of saddle soap on the canvas and rub a number of times in one direction. Once it starts to smooth out, rub it quickly back and forth to burnish it. You'll be amazed at how nice and shiny and professional looking your edge will be.

I love the clan shield on the front. Great job!
