Totally modern version right down to the narrow apron.

It wears nice though and I kind of like the looks.

Oh, and if interested, it is made with the cheapo poly/rayon stuff from Joann's.
First time I have ever tried working with a tartan or that material.
I hadn't noticed the pleating arrangement until you mentioned it, looks great to me. How was working with poly/rayon stuff, did you like it? I went back to 11 ounce after working with 16 ounce and it was as different as night and day.

This was the first time I had ever worked with this type of material.
Unlike you, I haven't worked on any other heavy stuff to compare it to.
This was the first tartan kilt I ever worked on.
I have only made modern type kilts, usually out of Poly/Cotton blends.
In fact, I don't even own a tartan kilt myself yet.
I bought some in a different tartan to make myself one.
I think it is just a fashion tartan, not really sure.
I just bought one I liked the looks of.
They only had 4 yards of it, so I am going to try to box pleat it and see how it comes out.
I will post some pictures when I get a chance to work on it.
