    kilt size adjustment range

I'm wondering about how much adjustment there is on a traditional kilt (just about to send in my sizes to Houston). My current waist size is 36 in. but it will likely go to maybe 35 and conversely expand to 37 in. Will the adjustment straps accomodate this range? Maybe more either way even?

Normally yes, when you are talking to Huston you might want to let them know that you would like to ensure you have adjustibility both up and down.

When you give the kiltmaker your measurements, let them know that range. My kiltmaker made mine with my current size the smallest since I'm in my 20's.

It should give you a 2" to 3" variance. I was measured for one with a 34" waist five years ago. That kilt has seen me through an increase to 36" waist and back to 34" again. Even at the 36" I still had another three holes on the straps.

That has been my experience that it will. If you know you are more likely to expand than shrink, then ask that the inside hole be, say 1" smaller than you think your smallest waist will be, that will leave about 2" "growth". A good idea is to discuss this with the maker of the kilt.

Thanks for the input guys. I emailed Houston and he just said no problem letting out or taking in for weight change. I took that to mean the kilt will accomodate the range I gave him. Onward and upward. Fingers crossed.
