I found this link a little while ago, so if you'd like to give these a try sight unseen, this is what looks like (I only read a bit of the way into the pattern)kilt hose, possibly Argyll or as they call them Highland Dance Socks. I say Argyll because of the number of colors of wool called for.
I must warn you, there are no photos with this and the printing is very fuzzy so I'd suggest a seasoned knitter give it a try in case there are any errors in the printing. Might be worth a go if you're interested in knitting this type of kilt hose.
