    Thick Skin Required!

Okay, a slight background first. I am, above all else, a Dallas Cowboys fan. My wife, spent half of her life in Colorado, and half in San Diego. She is one of those weird football fans who loves two teams in the same division. To my UK cousins, that would be like being a fan of Liverpool and Manchester United, at the same time.

So we went with some friends today to the Broncos-Chargers game. Because we were going with some friends who are Chargers fans, we went wearing Chargers gear. If your a true football fan, you might recongnize the rivalry. Long story short, Broncos won. We were happy; we like and support the Broncos, most of the time.

Let me tell you, that was a walk of shame, going back to the truck! I joked with the wife that I had a less hostile walk going through the North African section of a town in Cicily once! Most fans were good hearted in their ribbing, with only a couple being complete tw@ts. All in all, a good time.

Oh, and there is no way in H&ll I was going to wear a kilt while wearing rival team colors! I'm just not that brave!

Joyce and I watched that game on TV. First, I will say that we are Broncos fans. But, there were two calls that were very bad and in the Boncos favor. The first near the beginning of the game should have been overcome very quickly by the Chargers but took them untill the end of the game. The other, at the end of the game was just pure, dumb luck and no time to play their way out of it. I'm glad the Broncos won but do admit that if those two calls had been correct, they just might not have.

All good sports rivalries should have good hearted ribbing. There will always be a few gits that take it too seriously, but I doubt they actually have much going on in their lives and they are usually the inactive type that can't get off the couch to change the channel after the game never mind play the game.

Glad you guys had a good time nonetheless.

I come from Philadelphia, where this is taken VERY seriously, especially to someone wearing a Cowboys jersey. It seems to be the opposite here, a few good-hearted ribbings, with a lot of serious threats. Not surprising, as Philly fans don't seem to mind their reputation...
