I've read about those somewhere...not sure where. 72 balls of yarn~ That's like knitting a Kaffe Fasset or Alice Starmore sweater!!! A year to knit a pair of hose...that is dedication and it sounds as if the knitter didn't have one sock syndrome either! Both stockings were completed! As for me, I'll stick with a couple of pair a month-that's about my limit right now. The Argyle stockings might be tackled in a year or so-or when I retire-if ever.

Here it is.....a pic of the next pair of kilt hose I'm knitting...one down, one to go...
Navy Blue wool-DK. Toirneach Pattern but I've added reverse stockinnette stitch panels down the sides which come across the back of the leg once the calf decreases are worked. The cuff pattern is called Rib and Welt from Vogue Stitchionary.

I've started on the second Navy blue stocking and have learned a few lessons from this one
1. Make the cuff wider. This one is a bit too narrow and could have stood another repeat of the pattern.
2. The leg needed to be about another 1/2 inch longer as well...that's what I get for not measuring with my tape but measuring by sight!
I just got my two socks at a time book this past week, so once this pair is done and I've finished another knitting project that's pending, I'm learning that technique! I can't imagine how much time that will cut off of kilt hose knitting! I wonder if that means I have to add more kilt hose to the "to do" list?

could it be that we forget that one the hose is put on, the tightness factor pulls the hose shorter. If you have a 15 inch circumference calf you would knit the hose at about 14 inches or less. As you put the hose on this stretches the hose around the calf and pulls the top down.
If you see abbreviations, initials or acronyms you do not know the Xmarks FAQ section on abbreviations may help.

I know, I was in a hurry -another project in the wings that has to be completed by mid-October.
