Hope the finger heals completely! I have one that "sags" (machine, not animal bite) and makes spell-checks a necessity for me!

    (did the patient live? )

PS Make the most of it getting sympathy, back-rubs, etc from your spouse .

Thank you all so much for your sympathy. It really helps.

Especially since, today, when I went in for follow-up and had the (too tightly placed) sutures removed, the wound immediately gaped open again. The doctor put steri-strips over it, but she doesn't seem to understand just how much I use the hand. They're already starting to loosen.

Tomorrow night we are going swing dancing, but I won't be able to dance as enthusiastically as usual, since one good grab at the hand will just tear this open again.

I had to reschedule the dog spay for tomorrow. Can't perform a good surgical scrub of a hand with only a few paper strips holding it together.

WAAAAA!!! I'm so impatient with the whole healing process.

Admittedly, it's only been a week. Perhaps I should develop a bit of patience?!

Yeah, you'd better duck and cover Dee! Panache says if he has to take care of another child, he'll take up crack cocaine and all his hair will turn white and fall out and he'll curl up in the corner in the fetal position and suck his thumb.

The doctor who placed the too tight sutures was a relief doctor, who barely knew her way around the exam room and had to ask for my suggestions for suturing technique.

The patient did not live. His owner took him to the local pound and had him euthanized, because she could not bear the risk to her family, neighbors and any future vet gutsy enough to see the dog (did anyone mention that he bit me while under heavy sedation that completely immobilizes any normal dog?).

I should have euthanized him myself, but I was bleeding and had to get medical attention first.

Wow, I'm really whining here. Sorry folks! You guys are great! I think I'll go let my husband baby me some more.

Be well and thank you all,

    Star

Sorry to hear of your injuries, Star. If I know anything about your husband, though, he's taking good care of you.
