mudd. I have to agree. It was the Beaches we primarily went to visit. My Dad was RAF during the war and was seconded to US forces just prior to the 6 June Landings as an interpreter (he was fluent in French and German). Consequently he was one of the few British to 'land' on Omaha Beach. As history shows Omaha was by far the worst of the beaches in terms of allied loss so I suppose I'm quite fortunate to be around. I felt it important that I put my children in touch with a piece their family past. My wife, My Sons (19 and 15 at the time) and Daughter (18 months at the time) had a great time and you are right, to see my little one making castles and trying to eat the sand on Omaha brought a lump to the throat.
