Wouldn't the waistcoat be a bit thick or bulky to go under the kilt? You would have an undershirt, dress shirt, then the waistcoat, then the kilt, then the belt... You would need extra holes in your kilt straps.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
