My dad wouldn't have acted like that. Of course, he was a mason, and a lot of his friends went the Scottish Rite...
Its almost a miracle I hadn't wound up kilted years ago.

Overall it was positive, I laughed so hard at moms anger, even though it ticked me off, the capstone of the old brittsh guy really capped it off.
I sill have it on, btw. I'll take it off before I cook dinner, I only have 1 kilt and I'd rather not cook/eat my nachos in it. My shorts get bad enough as it is on nacho night...

My wife called from work a bit ago, and I told her the story. While she has issues with the kilt, she couldn't believe my mom's reaction. Of course, she did get pissed off abut my mom's comment that a kilt would turn my son gay.
(Both my wife and I, as well as my mom, have a fair number of gay friends. My wife and I can accept it if our kids go that route, we would rather they give us grandkids and such, but we're tolerant.

I get along pretty well with my mother, but she doesn't care for my kilts. She's made remarks indicating that to her it is less than manly. That's just my mom and I accept that opinion although I wish it were different. So, I don't wear the kilt around her and I don't pipe for her. I prefer what other ladies around my age think forbye.

I am sometimes amazed how offended people get by a piece of clothing.
Have the same problem here..

I think that this is a good time to sit down and talk about this issue with each side or sides explaining their feelings on this matter....We never really know until we can communicate........You have nothing to lose and you may gain new respect or the issue may be solved..........Anyway Good Luck

It's funny, when my parents found out we were going to be kilted at our wedding, they thought it was weird. Then all of my mom's co-workers thought it was cool. When my grandmother (who was not well enough to fly across the country to our wedding) saw the pictures, she repeatedly told my parents how great all the kilts looked in the wedding party. My parents have come along a bit -- my grandmother's tenacity may have had something to do with that!
Good luck with your mom! Remember we can't choose our family.
Cheers
Chris
I wish I had something funny or profound to put in a signature.

I think I would have some choice words for someone as ignorant as that regardless of relation. But that is me. I tend to look at situations like that as a challenge, and I am not one to back down. To each their own though, and I wish you luck.

Sure doesn't sound like a way to talk to someone you love, or another adult.
